Malabar Scrub Sanctuary, Trial Inventory, May 8, 2015

This was a short visit, primarily to do a trial inventory of the plants in the south end of this EEL property. My walk lasted only about 1 hour--it was too hot to make a longer walk. I started near the entrance, then walked the dry, sandy trail on the east side of the abandoned concrete road, crossed over and walked the west (and wetter) side, including a walk along the west side of the pond.

Since most of the plants were very familiar to me, I generally took only one photo of each plant as a record that the plant was present on this date. I photographed and identified 48 species; one currently unidentified and several I could only state the genus. There were two endemics (Lobelia feayana and Polygala rugelii) and five non-natives. I use the USF Plant Atlas as the authority on plant names--scientific and common.

Ferns and grasses are not included due to my lack of experience identifying them.
