Tosohatchee, February 1, 2018

We visited Tosohatchee to see what was in bloom on our 54th wedding anniversary.

The prize find was a small patch of blue and white butterworts.

All species shown are native unless otherwise stated.

Small butterwort (Pinguicula pumila, Lentibulariaceae)

We found an isolated, small patch (about 3-ft diameter) of this butterwort on the far side of the west ditch along Fish Hole Rd, about 100 yds south of Power Line Rd. The basal leaves, appearing buttery with rolled edges, trap and digest small insects.
