Wickham Park, June 17, 2016

This was a short hike along the path to the east of the youth camping area. I was searching for Florida milkweed (Asclepias feayi) for Roger Hammer. Unfortunately, I didn't find it.

This blog depicts some of the wildflowers that can be found in Florida's Space Coast, Brevard County. Unless otherwise stated, all photos were taken by myself, Wayne Matchett.

I am not a botanist nor a wildflower expert--just an amateur whose main interest is wildflower photography, which I have been doing for about 50 years, more seriously since the advent of digital cameras. Photographing wildflowers naturally leads to a need to identify the plant I have just photographed. Many times I find that having a good photo of the flower is not sufficient for identification--some other aspect of the plant (usually its stems or leaves, which I failed to photograph...) is necessary to pin down the exact species of wildflower. So, some of my identifications may be in error.
